1 day - The Royal Palace of Caserta and its gardens, jewels of unparalleled splendour
Free arrival in Naples and hotel accommodation. In the early afternoon meeting with our guide and departure for Caserta. Visit the majestic Reggia Vanvitelliana and its enchanting park, you will be enchanted by the beauty of the rooms and the magnificence of the avenues and gardens, the Reggia represents the triumph of Italian Baroque. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
2 Day. - Unusual and tasty coast: Gragnano pasta, Agerola cheeses and the magic of Amalfi
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide and departure for Gragnano the "capital of pasta". Visit of a historic pasta factory where the various production processes of pasta with tasting of products will be illustrated. Continue to Agerola, beautiful terrace on the Amalfi Coast, a destination for hikers and lovers of good food. Visit to a dairy where the famous Agerolese fior di latte and the provolone del monaco are produced. Typical lunch. In the afternoon we will move to Amalfi, visit the Duomo and the beautiful Cloister of Paradise. Among the intricate alleys of houses perched on top of each other and the colors of the thousand shops will be a pleasure to get lost in this village with unique charm. After a stop in Vietri sul Mare, where you can admire the famous ceramics produced here, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
3rd day. - Baroque Naples and the miracle of San Gennaro
Breakfast at the hotel. Day dedicated to the discovery of the most hidden soul of the city the baroque Naples, with its arts, its mysteries and its legends. Visit to the most representative churches and palaces of this period. The crib tradition, the Isiac mysteries and the Sansevero chapel, which will open the doors to the alchemy and mystery of the Veiled Christ. Visit the Cathedral of San Gennaro with the crypt that houses the relics and the Chapel of the treasure. We will then be enchanted in Spaccanapoli with the Church of Gesù Nuovo, the church of Santa Chiara and the adjoining majolica cloister. Typical lunch with the queen of the Neapolitan table: pizza Margherita. In the afternoon visit to the monumental Naples, political and representative center of the city. We will admire Piazza del Plebiscito a real open-air theater bordered by the beautiful Royal Palace and the Royal Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, Galleria Umberto that will revive the splendor of the beautiful époque, Teatro San Carlo the oldest opera house in Europe, Castel New Angevin fortress become unmistakable symbol of the city. Next stop will be via Toledo, where you can have a good coffee or taste a warm sfogliatella walking through the charming alleys of the Spanish neighborhoods. At the end return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
4th day. - Herculaneum and Pompeii: the ancient cities buried by Vesuvius
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide and departure for Ercolano. This excursion will allow us to compare the archaeological realities of two cities buried by the eruption of Vesuvius that have had a different history of excavation and a different state of conservation. In Ercolano the excellent condition of the houses, the wood and the bronze parts allows us to reconstruct the daily life and the way of living of two thousand years ago. The visit to the excavations of Pompeii, started by Charles III of Bourbon, will allow us to make a real dive into the past, a journey through time. Paintings, mosaics, new domus, workshops and daily life of one of the most important cities of the Roman Empire. Typical lunch in Pompeii. We will close the day, weather permitting, stopping at a coral workshop where you can witness in person the ancient art of cameo working, by skilled engravers. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Campi Flegrei
Breakfast at the hotel and release of the rooms. Meeting with the guide and departure for the Campi Flegrei, a journey into the myth. Guided tour of the ancient Pozzuoli with the Flavian Amphitheatre, one of the largest in the Empire. In the arena took place the first Christian martyrdoms including that of San Gennaro. We will continue the visit to the so-called Temple of Serapis. Considered the place of worship of Serapis because of the discovery of a statue of the god, it is actually the remains of the public market. On its columns it is possible to see traces of molluscs, because of bradyseism, in fact, for a certain period the Macellum was found below sea level. The last stop will be the famous Antro della Sibilla, a place full of mystery and magic, where the oracle lavished his mysterious prophecies. Continue to the hotel for luggage collection and free time before return.
