Description of the experience
Meeting with the guide and beginning of the visit to a real casket of art from where you can admire one of the most beautiful views of Naples. The Certosa of San Martino, one of the most important monastic centres in Italy, was built by Tino di Camaino and Attanasio Primario The original complex remains only the beautiful Gothic underground, between the end of the '500 and the beginning of the '700 the structure underwent profound changes thanks to three architects: Giovanni Antonio Dosio who gave it the elegance of the Renaissance style, Cosimo Fanzago creator of an extraordinary baroque decorative activity and Nicola Tagliacozzi Canale who will summarize here the experimentation of the roccocò taste. Inside the Certosa, in addition to the church that houses beautiful paintings and sculptures of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, there is the Museum of San Martino which preserves works by artists such as José de Ribera, Luca Giordano, Francesco De Mura, Battistello Caracciolo and Pietro Bernini. The fame of the Museum is also linked to the crib section and in particular to the Cuciniello Crib, which is one of the highest artistic expressions in the eighteenth century. From the Great Cloister we will admire the spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples and the characteristic baroque decorations that adorn it. Continuation of the guided walk through the stairs of Pedamentina to the historic center of Naples. From off San Martino we will descend a series of ramps and hairpin bends that offer breathtaking panoramic views. The staircase was designed by Tino di Camaino and Francesco de Vito and was intended to facilitate the transport of the mate.
