Herculaneum and the wines of Vesuvius

Meeting with the guide and visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Archaeological Park.  Located on a volcanic plateau, overlooking the sea, Herculaneum, like the other Vesuvian cities, was covered by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. whose products, depositing, buried until reaching a thickness of twenty-three meters. The city was brought to light during the excavations conducted by the Bourbons, starting from a random discovery made at the ancient theater of Herculaneum. What remains of the ancient Bourbon tunnels testifies to a technique of excavation now obsolete but still very suggestive to observe. The excavations offer visitors the opportunity to observe the urban fabric, the distribution of houses, some of which are located in a scenic position facing the sea, the magnificent spa complex, the sumptuous gym and the monumental basilica. The perfect state of preservation of the woods, the bronze parts and especially the elevations of the houses, gives a complete picture of both residential buildings, which allows you to rebuild the daily life and the way of living, and the various styles of painting Vesuvius. Among the most beautiful dwellings of the city is the "house of the mosaic Atrium", which owes its name to the beautiful black and white floor. In the garden of the luxurious "casa dei Cervi" statues of deer assaulted by dogs, the Satyr with leather skins and Hercules were found drunk. In the "house of the charred furniture" the wooden furniture is still kept in its place, consisting of a tricline bed and a small canteen. The "mosaic house of Neptune and Amphitrite", with adjoining workshop (the best preserved), has a grand atrium and the most beautiful mosaic decoration of the city. The "house of Argos", two-storey, has a garden surrounded by a columned portico. At the end of the visit continue towards the slopes of Vesuvius to visit a winery in the most important period of the year, the harvest. Lunch with the excellent products of the KM0 estate accompanied by a tasting of selected wines.  Guided tour in the winery aimed at the knowledge of the various stages of wine production, to discover curiosities, myths and legends. The estate, which dates back to the 19th century, is surrounded by thirty-five hectares of vineyards, bordered by olive groves, and is an exceptional location from which you can appreciate the beauty of the Sorrento peninsula, Capri Island, Torre Annunziata and Pompeii. End of services.
