Paestum

The valley of the temples

Guided tour to discover the city of Paestum, called by the Greeks Poseidonia. Located at the mouth of the Sele River, it was one of the richest and most flourishing Greek colonies in southern Italy on the west coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. We visit the archaeological area with the temples of Hera, Neptune and Athena. Paestum, famous for its magnificent Doric temples and the Forum, with shops and market of Roman age. In the Archaeological Museum, in addition to the precious finds found in the area, is preserved the famous fresco of the Tomb of the diver, the only example of Greek painting of Magna Grecia.

Duration: Half day

Services Included: Specialized guide, reservation and entrance to the Archaeological Park of Paestum.  Accompanying letter required on school letterhead and list of pupils.

Optional services on request: Lunch in the restaurant or Pizza and drink menu. Visit to the farm to observe the processing of mozzarella and use picnic area. Possibility to combine this visit with that of the Caves of Castelcivita.
